Maths LS T3

TIMATA’s Maths Learning Story Term 3

Hook:

Introduction: How we do maths at Corinna School

The problem
Allister and Sam are refilling the fridge with milk cartons. They want to save time by
transporting the milk boxes in a bigger container so they can carry more at once.

3cm

10cm

4.5cm

How many boxes can they fit into the container?

2 milk containers in hight can fit normally but 2 milk containers have to lay down add up the hight and it will be 28cm. if you go across to the length if you put in 6 milk to the side it will be 27cm but add 1 more milk the measurement will be 30.5cm
you won't have to do the width is the same. 28 milk cartons are 7 milk cartons will be the length and then 21 milk containers than do the same to both widths that will be 64 then the east side it would be 91 then I could see that is how much milk could fit in.

First, I did three bullet points      because I want to show how I measured the milk carton

Timata's own report

I felt nervous because I didn’t know how my year would turn outand who would be in my class. It has been an
up and down year for me but I am still proud of what I
have accomplished.

I am good at maths because I like to solve problems. I am a successful learner
at maths because I can work well in groups. The key competency I use the
most is thinking in maths because It helps me to be able to find the answer.
I learn well in a group because I help them and I helped do the work.
The learning I like to do most at school is maths because I like to do maths
in groups.

This year I participated in going into different things. A goal I achieved this
year is working in groups and the school jobs and responsibilities I have
handled this year are doing the benches. I achieved it by stepping up and joining
the group. I helped make my class a fun and safe place by being a good
classmate and a good friend. I sometimes help them by giving feedback.

The key competency I need to work on is to start not distracting others
because I think I will do this by sitting somewhere where there is no one to distract.

The learning I find hard is working by myself because I can’t work without people
because I can have help when I get stuck. Next year I need to work on my
writing because I don’t really do much and I don’t feel like doing it. But next
year I will use art to inspire me to do my writing.

Personal Profile

Personal Profile

There are 2 cool memories of WWE the first was April 8, 2017,
WrestleMania 33 when Matt Hardy and Jeff Hardy returned,
they were also known as the Hardy Boyz.
The other time was January 24, 2018, at the royal rumble the Hurricane and
Rey Mysterio returns.
A sad memory
was at on April 27th, 2018 one of my uncle died. At WWE WrestleMania 33
when the Undertaker was beaten by Roman and retired the Undertaker.
I remember I have been friends with Xiah since kindergarten in 2010-2018
and we are cousins. Because we are both Maori we both like sharks and we also don’t like
spiders that much.

I remember when I got my dog in 2016 we got him and we named him BOY
he was a puppy he was hypo and he still is now but I love him. What I found hard was when we did cross country I was dying. And what I cannot overcome are clowns and spiders.
The challenges I've faced is my wrestling training I always have to face the
biggest people there have been some student that has been there for over
three years a happy moment is when my coach liked my form. I have three
sad moments my mum's brother died at the age of 25, my brother's friend
died at the age of 23 and my koro went to hospital 21/3/18.
The happiest moment of my life was when it was the holidays,
I get to do what I want for two months, it is really cool and fun and another time is when my brother took me to a live wrestling show I was even on
camera.

maths learning story

Timata’s maths learning story

I am doing the pc students that there are 220 but 132 wear lavalavas with strong identities
In maths, I have been learning about percentages
What they have in common is they all have percentages in maths we been learning I been trying to
solve the problem First I did a number line then zero percent which means there are no boys in class
one hundred two hundred twenty percent for means all of the boys then I put fifty percent underneath
and one hundred ten for half of it. So I put seventy for ten percent then counted in tens when I got to
half I got confused.

Then I counted in the twenties but when I got to one hundred eight so I did add thirty that made two
hundred ten Then ten to make two hundred twenty. But it did not make any scenes but sixty-two
percent was one hundred thirty-two and that is how I found it out Its 132 students.

I don’t really like doing maths, maths is so hard because the problems are just so challenging.
It has been challenging

PE learning story

We have been learning about teamwork. Teamwork is where a
team are working together and when they agree on things.
They work well they support each other they plan and play fair.
They train hard to get better. When we encourage each other
they do it we did dodgeball for p.e we had to try to get the other
team out.
I really like working as a team when someone has two balls
they give a ball to the person next to them.
I didn’t like how I mostly couldn't get the ball because
I was at the back so next time I will stay in the front so I can get
the ball better.
My next steps on contributing in p.e are to help my team and
support them.  I can participate by giving my team feedback
and encouragement It can also make your family proud you could
also huddle up and plan.

swimming learning story

Swimming can help people to be safe in the water. It might even save someone’s life.

This term all the Year 6’s went to the Cannon Creek pools. On the way to the pools we sang matariki
songs. When we got to the pools we waited for our turn while the junior kids had their half an
hour lesson. The year sixes got changed and when we came out we waited on the steps. I had a little game with Sylvain and Dezil. We had a game of rock, paper, scissors. Then the juniors came out
of the pool then we went in.

I improved on my rocket arms and how to go faster by kicking my legs in the water.

I used key competency of relating to others by cheering my team on when they needed it.

I also used the key competency of managing myself. For example, I helped myself by making myself
think I can do better.

philosophy changes the way we communicate.

Intro - Talk about what technology involves (Who? Where? What?)
We were in a circle and we had two balls of yarn put together and we got a note and we had to work in twos and the person who has the ball of yarn they can talk, the people that don’t have it don’t speak at all and the note you have you have three options like a good bad or worse and you have to talk with your partner to see which group it has to go in. we also read this note to the rest of the group and some agreed with what i thought and others disagreed.

Learning story using success criteria * Make it interesting for your reader.

Success Criteria: the success criteria i use was share my ideas with the rest of the group and some people agreed and disagreed.

  • Talking about what to do
  • Measuring accurately
  • Make improvements to your product

Get feedback from a buddy who is in your group

Feedback
You are good at explaining what you do in tech  because you give detail You need to work on a longer story so we can understand more about because we don’t want short story we want wow factor

fractions learning story

½ = 6/12 = 3/6 = 2/4 = 5/10 = 4/8
Pattern (2) 2/4 = 3/6 = 4/8 = 5/10 = 6/12

I know that 200 is half of 400. 200/400 is an equivalent fraction
to one half.

  1. You can count up by one half you can split the denominator
  2. by half
½ + ⅕ = 7/10 3/6 + ½ = ⅚
2. You can’t use a number that isn't equivalent to the other
